Lisa Ferrante is a self-taught mixed media artist, wife, and mother graced with a beautiful supportive family. It was when she finally discovered mixed media that years of feelings and life expressions began to flow from her hands and heart onto paper and canvas. Initially, Lisa created a body of work expressing long-suppressed feelings about her mother who passed away when Lisa was only 5 years old. Over time, her subject and expression began to evolve, but themes of love and motherhood are nearly always present in her work; Lisa is the mother to two daughters, and this maternal love and role is intimately intertwined in each art piece.
From Lisa:
I am never certain where the journey of any one piece will take me. Sometimes a word will inspire an entire work; other times it is only when the piece is complete that it is clear what it is meant to say. All are about love—maternal love, romantic love, self love and self empowerment. These themes are a reflection of me. They are me exposed; each purges another powerful emotion, another profound realization. Each piece represents another step in my own evolution as a woman. As the themes have evolved—from the worship of a goddess-mother I never knew, to my love for my girls and how raising them in a relationship rooted in connection, love and truth has healed and transformed me in ways I never thought possible.
Lisa's work is held in private collections all over the world. Some of her larger paintings are on display at The Hard Rock Hotel, Riviera Maya.
